Bromley Council has submitted a planning application for the refurbishment and extension of West Wickham Library including a new café and community space. The application also proposes the redevelopment of the car park site on Croft Avenue to provide mews of 6 houses comprising 12 flats and a detached 3-storey block of flats comprising 14 units and a private communal amenity space.
The application and all relevant documents can be viewed on the Council’s website at bromley.gov.uk and then taking the ‘Planning’ and then ‘Search Planning Applications’ options. The application reference is 21/04851.
The neighbour consultation expiry date is 22nd December 2021 and the determination deadline is 2nd March 2022.
The Association will be discussing these proposals internally and with our Ward Councillors over the next few weeks to decide what action it will take.

It seems a great shame to lose the small car park. This is very useful for library goers, people who use the Station Road Surgery, the small Sainsburys, and the shops at the top end of West Wickham. It will change the dynamics of the top end of West Wickham, as less people will use these shops. The surgery has over 1000 people on its books I believe and they will miss the ease of parking in the small car park.
This is a big loss to convenient shopping, and use of local businesses. ie laundrette, c omputer shop etc.
Sounds good! Housing and community space is much more needed than a car park – people should walk more and use smaller cars anyway. SUVs are a blight on west wickham
Glad I found this website at last and totally agree about the possible loss of this small car park. I was equally sorry to see the public conveniences go and to read the proposals to move the library facility to a new leisure centre near the station. While actually nearer to me, from The Avenue, it is a great disadvantage to those living the other side of Wickham which could well be far more than those it would help.
