An artist’s impression
A huge thank you goes to Justin Temple for these lovely sketches. They show a dragonfly (Ruddy Darter male and female), Red Clover and Birds-foot trefoil. Justin is a local resident who walks across the West Wickham Commons on a regular base. He is very keen on recording, taking photos and sketching species.
If you have a photo or sketch from the West Wickham Commons you want to share, please send us an email citycommons@cityoflondon.gov.uk or have a look on Facebook (CityCommons, SpringPark) or Twitter (@CityCommos). We are looking forward to see your lovely photos. |

Final preparations…
Regular visitors to West Wickham Common may have noticed quite a bit of activity recently where the Common is dissected by Hartfield Crescent. Contractors working for Transport for London (TfL), and Thames Water have been preparing infrastructure for the imminent construction of a signalised pedestrian crossing, which is to be installed just around the corner in Croydon Road. As part of the scheme, a new length of pavement will be built on the western side of Hartfield Crescent creating a step-less link to the crossing. TfL are currently planning to start their installation work during November. Installation work starts on 6 November and will continue into early December.
